UEFA Press information:

  • This is Leeds United's first match against Belgian opposition since they entertained RSC Anderlecht at Elland road 26 seasons ago. It was the quarter final of the Champions club' cup and the English team ran out as 3-0 winners, thanks to goals by Joe Jordan, Gordan McQueen and Peter Lorimer.

  • The match was played in such thick fog that play had to be suspended for 15 minutes during the first half.

  • Leeds United have Bakke, Smith, Mills and Bowyer within one yellow card of a one match suspension.

  • RSC Anderlecht have Crasson, Dheedene and Staelens in the same situation.

  • The only addition made by the Belgian champions to their UEFA Champions league squad list is that of goalkeeper Kurt Carlier.  the 19 year old has been assigned shirt No:30.

  • The Leeds United No:12 Darren Huckerby, moved to Manchester City in December. He made two appearances (69 mins) during the first group phase and scored one of the side's six goals in the home game against Besiktas JK.

  • No:20 Matthew Jones has also left the club.  he has moved to Leicester City. He has played no part in the first group phase.

  • Dutch defender Robert Molenaar, who has been assigned the No:30 shirt has joined Bradford City.  Although he was on the subs bench during both games in the qualifier against TSV 1860 Munchen and during the 2-0 home defeat by Real Madrid on matchday 7, he played no further part in the UEFA Champions league.

  • Leeds United's training session at the ground on Monday morning is closed to the media.

  • David O'Leary's pre-match press conferance is scheduled for 13:30 on Monday in the Jackie Charlton suite at Elland road.

  • Danny Mills, who missed Saturday's game through flu, was back in training on Monday and even though he has lost some weight  hopes to be in the starting line up for this match.
