Post match reaction:

 Mark Viduka: 

"It is tremendous to come back to a game like this.  We got off to a good start and it was great to get my first goal.  The scoreline says it all really....we started well and just kept rolling with the fans urging us on like that.  It has turned out to be more memorable for me than the Olympics."

 

Alan Smith: 

"I thought i went for the ball in the incident when i was booked.  It was a silly tackle when we were 5-0 up and i am dissappointed.  But there are a lot of happy faces in the dressing room tonight."

"I rated Besiktas. I thought they were very workmanlike, so it was important to get at them straight away.  We started very brightly and that set the tone.  Everybody played their part in this victory. Tonight was wonderful for me it was a great result.  I am grateful for six goals.  We are a young side and after three games i am delighted where we are in this group.  I just think we played very well tonight.... i am starting to enjoy the Champions league."

" We worked well as a team.  We slipped up a bit last Saturday but tonight all the lads were tremendous.  We got those three early goals and did not let them settle.  I do not get many goals so it was nice to get on the scoresheet.  We just have to keep going now."
